SKARDU, June 5: The Northern Areas Appellate Court has established its registry office in Skardu so that people of Baltistan can get justice at their doorsteps, official sources said.

The Chief Justice of the Northern Areas Supreme Appellate Court, Justice Ahsanullah Qureshi, has issued orders in this regards.

The appellate court was established in September last to hear appeals against decisions of the Northern Areas Chief Court.

After establishment of the registry office in Skardu, the people of Baltistan would not need travelling to Gilgit to appeal against decisions of the Northern Areas Chief Court.

BAN: The Civil Court of Skardu has restricted Skardu Municipal Committee from implementing its developmental budget, sources told Dawn.

The Skardu civil judge prohibited the municipal committee on a petition filled by opposition members of the committee.

The court fixed June 15 for formal hearing of the case.
