ISLAMABAD: The capital administration has set up eight points in different areas of the city to help motorists get M-Tags for their vehicles.
The points are at Kachnar Park I-8, Islamabad Club, Lake View Park, F-9 Park, Tarlai, Chungi No 26, Gulberg Green and Excise and Taxation office H-8.
The motorists can get the M-Tags fixed on their vehicles from 9am to 9pm from these points except the Excise and Taxation Office where the facility is available from 3pm to 9pm.
These points have been set up for the convenience of the residents of the capital. Motorists can get M-Tags installed, recharge and renew details from a point near their homes without waiting in long queues. Vehicles without the tag will not be allowed to ply in Islamabad.
The initiative aims to save time, reduce hassle, and provide easy access to essential tagging services.
Earlier, talking to media outside the Judicial Complex after a suicide attack, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said he had directed not to allow any vehicles into Islamabad without an M-Tag after two weeks.
Later, Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry addressing a press conference outside the Parliament House alongside Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Nov 13 said E-Tags will be mandatory for all vehicles in the city.
There will be no vehicle in Islamabad without E-Tags, which are also called M-Tag or E-Tag, to monitor so every moment of any vehicle in Islamabad.
In the first phase tags will be issued to the vehicles and in the second phase same will also be issued to motorcycles as M-Tag and E-Tag made mandatory on vehicles for entry and the residents of the capital.
The E-Tag and M-Tag will also be linked with the Safe City Authority Islamabad for surveillance and monitoring of the vehicles moving in the capital.
This step empower the authority concerns to identify and separate the vehicles of residents, those which commute to Islamabad on daily basis and regularly from other part of the country, including neighboring and adjacent cities, new comers and outsider.
