Turn envy into inspiration

This is regarding the story “Turn envy into inspiration” by Fatimah Khurrum (YW, September 20). This story resonated deeply, because it captured a universal teenage struggle — the conflict between wanting to be “cool and fit in” and recognising true, quiet excellence. The narrator’s journey of intense jealousy toward Mira felt incredibly honest. The writer skilfully showed that the narrator’s frustration wasn’t just about grades; it was about wondering how Mira, who wasn’t “cool and stylish,” could be so genuinely liked.

But the lesson is undeniably touching and true. If you just keep hating someone for being better, you’ll stay stuck in a loop of negative feelings.

Gadgets to the rescue

This is regarding the article “Gadgets to the rescue” by Shahmeer Asif (YW, September 27). I like how the writer defended gadgets, showing that they aren’t just “evil devices”, but can also be “blessings in disguise” for our health and the environment. The piece provided excellent, actionable advice. Checking the AQI using free apps like IQAir or BreezoMeter is particularly useful — it’s a simple, everyday step for taking personal control over our environment, just like checking the weather.

Overall, the article presented a positive argument for using technology to increase our environmental awareness and promote healthier habits.

The golden period of life

This is with reference to the article “The golden period of life” by Shanzay Siraj (YW, September 27).

The article captured the essence of childhood nostalgia beautifully. It’s easy for kids today to feel pressure, and this piece offers a vital reminder to appreciate the simplicity and freedom they possess at their age.

This article is a valuable reflection that reminds children to cherish their present and helps adults appreciate the true value of the “golden period” they’ve left behind.

3D Bouquet card

This is regarding the section Wonder Craft, “3D Bouquet card” by The Crafter (YW, September 27). It was a lovely craft — easy to make and beautiful to present. I really appreciated the clear, step-by-step instructions.

I am excited to try this for my grandmother’s birthday next month. It’s a great way to show someone you care with something made entirely by you from scratch.
