Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has contacted the relevant provincial ministers regarding expected flooding in the River Indus and instructed them to strictly monitor embankments and irrigation systems on both banks of the river.

According to a statement from the CM House, the chief minister was informed that the current status of barrages is under control and all safety measures have been completed.

“CM Shah directed the relevant departments and district administrations to remain fully active in the field, while ministers should continuously supervise all measures directly,” the statement read.

“The ministers assured the chief minister that continuous monitoring of the barrages and embankments is ongoing and that they are present on the banks to ensure the safety of the public.”

The CM also urged residents living along the riverbanks and in low-lying areas to fully cooperate with the administration to ensure their protection in case of any emergency.
