RAWALPINDI: On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has decided to establish the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Murree to restore its natural beauty and promote tourism.

In this regard, Housing and Urban Planning department has assigned an important task to the Director General PHA, who will present a summary for the establishment of PHA to the Punjab chief minister for approval.

According to the spokesperson for the housing department, this initiative will increase green areas at the local level, launch large-scale tree plantation drives to promote local forests, organise exhibitions and events for citizens and tourists, and develop a revenue generation model through advertisements, signboards, and green areas.

Officers and staff will also be appointed for the Murree PHA.

The spokesperson said that the project will equally benefit the local population and tourists, and in line with the chief minister’s vision, the beauty of tourist spots in Murree will be enhanced.

According to the spokesperson, the network of parks and horticulture authorities will soon be expanded across the province.
