KARACHI: A fast-moving dumper ran over and killed a motorcyclist in Malir on the main National Highway on Friday, police and rescuers said.

The Malir City police said that Mohammed Irshad, 33, was riding a motorcycle when the dumper hit him and two other motorcycles. Irshad suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

In the meantime, enraged people gathered there and mob got hold of the driver, identified as Mohammed Aijaz, and subjected him to beating.

However, the police reached the scene and rescued him from the mob.

The police registered a case against the arrested driver on behalf of the state and impounded the dumper.

They said that relatives of the victim could not be traced till late in the night. Later, the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue at Sohrab Goth.
