LAHORE: The district administration has accelerated the pace of the ongoing anti-dengue drive, claiming action is being taken to prevent the spread of the disease with a focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for all citizens.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza, accompanied by the CEO health, chief officer MCL, assistant commissioner Nishtar and other relevant officials also conducted a visit to Nishtar Town to oversee the ongoing dengue surveillance efforts.
According to a spokesman, the health CEO provided a briefing to the DC regarding adherence to dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs), highlighting that upon detection of dengue larvae, immediate spraying operations were being carried out in 10 surrounding houses to mitigate potential transmission.
Mr Raza emphasized the need to ensure that dengue surveillance remains effective at all costs. He asked district health officers (DHOs), district programme coordinators and deputy district health officers (DDHOs) to monitor surveillance activities, with continuous and close supervision of both indoor and outdoor locations.
Furthermore, the DC explicitly instructed that dengue larvae must be eliminated immediately rather than concealed and any standing water on rooftops and in streets should be removed without delay. He issued a stern warning that no negligence or oversight in the anti-dengue campaign would be tolerated, asserting that the protection of citizens’ health was of paramount priority.
LWMC: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), according to a spokesman, initiated a specialised cleaning operation encompassing scraping, washing, sprinkling, and anti-dust measures along 40 of Lahore’s major roads.
Scraping and washing activities are happening on prominent roads such as Ferozepur Road, Hali Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Noor Jahan Road, Mall Road, Saggian Road, Taj Company Road, Shahdara Chowk, GT Road, Truck Adda, Lorry Adda, Circular Road, Aik Moria Pul, Railway Station, Shalamar Bagh, Bhogiwal Road, Daroghawala, Salamatpura, Mominpura Bhini Road, Dharampura, Harbanspura and Rehmanpura.
Furthermore, the LWMC sanitation squads are dedicated to anti-dust activities on key routes such as Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Pico Road, Allah Hoo Chowk, College Road, Bagrian Chowk, Katcha Jail Road, Madar-e-Millat Road, Multan Road, Thokar Chowk, MAO Chowk, Chauburji and Azadi Chowk.
