SWABI: A young woman died on Monday due to alleged torture by her husband and brother-in-law, which led to her miscarriage, in Topi tehsil of Swabi district, the police said.

Faiz Mohammad, a brother of the deceased woman, a resident of Tordher village, registered an FIR with the Topi city police station on Tuesday, saying his sister was married to Adnan Khan of Kotha village, Topi, 11 months ago and was pregnant.

He alleged his sister was subjected to torture by her husband and brother-in-law, Azam Khan, 27, days ago, which caused her to faint.

He said they shifted her to the Mardan Medical Complex, where her pregnancy was lost and she also died.

SHO Topi police station Naeem Khan said they had arrested the accused brothers.

In a similar development, a man allegedly shot his wife dead, Kalu Khan police said, while quoting the father of the deceased.

Sabz Ali Khan got registered an FIR with the police, alleging he received information that his daughter had died.

“When I reached her home, I found her lying on the bed, covered in blood. I am are sure her husband, Naseerullah, shot her dead with a firearm over a petty dispute,” he told the police.

Also in the day, a teenaged boy was killed when he was hit by a tractor-trolley on Maneri Road.

The deceased, Ahmed Khan, 17, hailed from Saleem Khan Khadi Mira area.

In Marghuz village, unidentified assailants shot dead a teenaged boy. The deceased was identified as Murtaza Khan, 18.

Separately, a man was shot dead by unknown assailants on the Khankha Road.

The deceased was identified as Munir Mohammad, Zaida police station officials said while quoting Mukhtiar Mohammad, a brother of the deceased.

Meanwhile, an old enmity claimed the life of a man in Barukhel locality.

Shah Zaman Khan, a resident of Maneri Bala, while registering an FIR at Swabi police station, said he along with his brother, Sher Zaman was on way to a mosque to offer morning prayers when accused Shahzeb and Tariq opened fire, killing Zaman on the spot.
