KARACHI, May 14: The foundation of Breast Cancer Diagnostic Centre at Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad was laid by MPA Farheen Ambreen. Speaking on the occasion, Farheen Ambreen said that she being a public representative was committed to the cause of resourceless people and therefore from the development funds allocated to her she decided to arrange a facility much needed in a locality inhabited by people of lower-middle class.

“I am fully conscious of the fact that incidence of breast cancers is increasing and that timely diagnosis of the disease can prevent associated mortality as well as morbidity,” she said.

The MPA announced that Rs12.335 million centre with provision for necessary gadgets, including a mammography machine, would be functional in the next few months. She said that a generator of 1.5KV would also be installed at the hospital catering hundreds of patients from thickly populated Liaqutabad and Gulberg towns.

The provincial health secretary said that the provincial health department was also focusing on proper and updated training of the medical staffers and technicians. With a view to ensure that people were offered quality service, due care was also being taken to improve salary structure of the junior staffers, he said.

The ceremony among others was also attended by EDO Health, Sindh Director Nursing Ruby Iqbal and Sindh Government Hospital, Liaqutabad, Medical Superintendent Dr Shabbir Hussain Shah.—APP
