QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has ordered district administrations to take strict security measures during Muharram and ensure the safety of majalis and processions.

“Heightened security should be ensured in and around worship places, Imambargahs and mourning processions, particularly in the provincial capital,” Governor Mandokhail said.

The governor also directed the relevant agencies to strengthen coordination and maintain close communication among themselves. District administrations and police officers should remain vigilant at all times and monitor security arrangements to ensure peaceful Ashura gatherings and processions.

Mr Mandokhail said that additional security personnel would be deployed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram to secure the processions.

He stressed the importance of a proactive approach by law enforcement to guarantee public safety throughout the Ashura.
