KARACHI: A girl was kidnapped and gang-raped in the Ittehad Town area, police said on Friday.

They said that the prime suspect had been arrested hours after the law enforcers came to know about the incident that took place in the night between June 30 and July 1.

Keamari SSP Faizan Ali said in a statement that the prime suspect had abducted the girl and brought her to a place where his other accomplices were also present.

He said that the suspects subjected the girl to gang rape. Later, the girl managed to escape from the place and reached the house of her uncle, who informed the police about the incident.

The girl was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors confirmed that she was raped.

On Thursday, the Ittehad Town police registered a case under Sections 375 (rape) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the prime suspect.
