SWABI: A woman and her three children, who were trapped in floodwaters caused by heavy rain, were rescued here on Saturday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

Luqman Khan, a rescue official, told Dawn on contact that four members of a family got stuck inside their mud house surrounded by floodwaters due to heavy rain in Adina area.

“A rescue team reached the troubled spot soon after receiving information about the incident and started rescue operation,” he said. “The trapped family was taken out of the floodwaters and shifted to a safe place.”

Those rescued included Shabeena Begum, 60, her daughter Aqra Khan, 15, two sons Yahya Khan, 10, and Abu Bakar, 7.

Also in the day, a man was killed and three others were critically injured when two motorcycles collided at Maini Chowk on Swabi-Topi Road, rescue officials said.

Muhammad Zaman, 35, resident of Takeel village of Gadoon Amazai, died on the spot, while Imran Khan, 29, Ali Baz, 60 and Halal Khan, 9, were seriously injured in the collision. The body and the injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Topi.
