BAHAWALNAGAR: A girl was shot dead in Dahranwala on Sunday night allegedly by her neighbour in a dispute over the rejection of a marriage proposal, said witnesses and police.
The first information report registered with Dahranwala police on Monday stated that a youth named Azhar Rasool of Chak 200 Murad barged into the house of 23-year-old Mibra Zafar of the same area on June 22 at 11pm and shot her dead on the spot.
According to the FIR, Azhar wanted to marry Mibra, but he took this extreme step after her parents continuously refused his marriage proposal.
The DPO’s spokesperson claimed that police had arrested the suspect when he was trying to flee from the city.
BODY FOUND: The body of a 20-year-old youth, who went missing on Sunday, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in an under-constructed building near 270/HR village in Fort Abbas police precincts on Monday.
Reports said Umar alias Billo of village 270 HR had left his house on Sunday after a scuffle with his family and did not return home.
On Monday, the locals spotted the body of Umar hanging from the ceiling fan in an under-constructed building.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted the body to Fort Abbas THQ Hospital, where doctors conducted the autopsy.
Police spokesperson Zahid Rasool claimed that the family did not want to conduct an autopsy, declaring the incident a suicide. However, on the insistence of the police, a post-mortem examination was conducted, and further action would be taken in light of the report.
