TOBA TEK SINGH: Three boys drowned in the Rakh Branch Canal near the Novelty overhead bridge on Samundri Road in Faisalabad on Saturday.

According to Rescue 1122, four boys were bathing in the canal when they became trapped in a deep area.

People on the canal bank attempted to rescue them and managed to save only one, identified as Adil Mushtaq, 15, of Lahore.

The bodies of Umair Umer, 18, and Assam Mubarak, 17, both from Lahore, and Adnan Fayyaz, 20, a resident of Faisalabad, were later recovered.

The two deceased boys and the survivor had come from Lahore to visit their relative, Adnan Fayyaz.

SUICIDE: A jail warder killed his wife and then died by suicide in Alvi Park, Jaranwala, on Saturday.

Reports said Tanweer, 25, had married Shazia Bibi, 48, a divorced woman, some time ago. The couple had been engaged in a dispute as Tanweer was pressuring her to transfer her property, including a private school building, a plot, and a house, into his name.

Shazia, however, intended to transfer the assets to her two daughters from a previous marriage. In the wake of this conflict, Tanweer shot Shazia dead and then turned the gun on himself.

ACCIDENT: A man and his son were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a coaster on Gojra-Painsara Road near Chak Naurangabad on Saturday.

According to Nawan Lahore police, Hakeem Muhammad Arshad, 55, and his son Faizan, 25, were on their way to Painsara when two coasters, racing against each other from the opposite direction, hit their bike. Both sustained critical injuries and died while being transported to Allied Hospital.
