TOBA TEK SINGH: A couple was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly torturing to death their minor maid in the locality of Eden Valley in Faisalabad.

A police spokesperson said Faisalabad CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar took notice of media reports about the death of a minor maid from torture by the owner of the house and his wife. The Madina Town police arrested the accused couple on his directions, the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said on the complaint of father of the victim Muhammad Irshad of Chak 243 RB, an FIR was registered by the Madina Town police under sections 302 and 34 of the PPC and sections 3 and 4 of the Punjab Restriction on Employment of Children Act 2016.

In the FIR, the complainant said that his daughter, Alia Bibi (13), was employed at the home of Mian Zeeshan for the last eight months. He said the man and his wife Samia Bibi had been torturing her and she was also being forced to work at their relative’s home.

He said he was called by the accused who told him that his daughter was sick. He said when he arrived at the house, he found her body in a room in the upper storey of their house. He claimed that the accused couple offered him money to avoid legal action.

The body had been shifted to the DHQ hospital for autopsy.
