RAWALPINDI: Construction work on the Nawaz Sharif flyover on Adiala Road is likely to be completed by June 3, and it will be opened to traffic before Eidul Azha.

This was stated during a visit to the site by Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak.

According to a statement, he reviewed the ongoing construction work in detail. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Hassaan Tariq and senior officials from the Communication and Works Department were also present.

The commissioner inspected the pace and quality of the work. He directed that all work be completed within the stipulated time so that citizens could be relieved of traffic problems.

A briefing on the occasion informed him that 98 per cent of the flyover work had been completed and the project would be finished by June 3, followed by a formal inauguration.

The commissioner said the flyover project was of public importance and its timely completion would help improve traffic flow in Rawalpindi. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure transparency, quality and safety at every stage of the work.

The commissioner further stated that the government was taking serious steps to ensure the rapid completion of development projects in Punjab, and all possible resources were being provided for public convenience.

He also met and encouraged the contractor and workers present at the site.

Mr Khattak emphasised that the safety and welfare of the workers should be prioritised so they could perform their duties efficiently.

He added that the district administration was monitoring public projects directly and that no delay or negligence would be tolerated.
