RAWALPINDI: Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki on Monday reiterated his country’s interest in Pakistan’s development and said joint efforts will continue to increase cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.
He stated this during a meeting with Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi at the ministry.
The minister and the Saudi ambassador discussed matters related to bilateral cooperation, investment and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in other areas.
Joint projects and investment opportunities in various sectors were also discussed.
Both sides appreciated the longstanding historical, religious and economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and agreed that these ties were very important for the prosperity and development of the people of both the countries.
Mr Abbasi said Saudi Arabia is a key partner of Pakistan and the two countries should take their relations to new heights.
He termed the financial support (remittances) of millions of Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia crucial for Pakistan’s economy.
Furthermore, he said, the annual Haj and Umrah pilgrimages from Pakistan to the holy sites were a symbol of the strength of religious and cultural ties between the two countries.
The minister laid special emphasis on increasing cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the railway sector, promoting trade and investment opportunities. He said the development of railway infrastructure will strengthen the economies of both countries and play an important role in promoting trade in the region.
The ambassador reiterated Saudi Arabia’s interest in Pakistan’s development and said joint efforts will continue to increase cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.
The two sides also discussed investment promotion, strengthening trade relations and public welfare projects.
The minister reiterated the resolve that Pakistan wants close cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all sectors and will continue to strive to promote relations in the future.
