DERA GHAZI KHAN: An armed clash between two tribal clans over a land dispute claimed lives of two men and left as many others injured in the limits of Darkhawst Jamal Khan police station in Kot Chhutta tehsil on Sunday.

As per local sources and police, the clash erupted between Birmani and Jogiani clans of Leghari tribe over a land dispute at Mouza Bhakkar Wah.

During exchange of fire between the two sides, one Fida Hussain Birmani was shot dead and his son Rafiq Birmani was injured, while the head of their rival group, Afzal Jogiani, lost his life, and his son Ajmal was wounded.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot.

The Rescue 1122 staff provided first aid to the injured persons and transported the bodies to the hospital for the postmortem examination.

The police have started investigations.

PROTEST: A protest demo was staged against the alleged kidnapping of a dumper driver by armed gang near Barda border military police station,in Rujhan tehsil, Rajanpur district, blocking the Indus Highway for traffic.

Following the incident, fellow drivers and the victim’s family blocked the Indus Highway in protest, causing severe traffic disruption and public inconvenience.

BMP Rajanpur Commandant Qasim Gill told Dawn that unidentified armed assailants kidnapped the driver and took him to Shahwali area.

District Police Officer (DPO) Farooq Amjad said the Indus Highway has been opened for traffic after successful negotiations with the protesters.
