RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police have recovered two hostages from kidnappers in an operation against Katcha area criminals.

According to a handout by Punjab Police on Saturday, two kidnappers were injured during the action.

The recovered hostages were identified as Saifur Rehman Haider and Muhammad Ali hailing from Islamabad.

It said Rahim Yar Khan police encountered kidnappers during patrolling in Katcha Machka area. Two kidnappers escaped to the Indus river bed, leaving the hostages.

“There are unconfirmed information that two dacoits were injured in police action.”

District Police Officer (DPO) Rizwan Umar Gondal said a heavy contingent of police and elite commandos with armoured vehicles participated in the operation.

IGP Inspector Dr Usman Anwar hailed the DPO and his team.
