ISLAMABAD: The supply of newly developed textbooks for grade 1 to 5 will be completed within two weeks , says the education ministry.
“These cutting-edge textbooks are designed to transform the classroom experience with interactive content, student-centeric learning activities, and a strong emphasis on developing 21st century skills, says a press release issued by the education ministry.
It said that to ensure wide accessibility, the textbooks are also available online, making them easily reachable for students and teachers across the country. Speaking to Dawn on Thursday, Secretary Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said that the new books are attractive ones as various international models including of Singapore textbook models were reviewed before finalising these new books.
He said the education ministry got the books designed by an NGO Taleemabad free of cost and same were published by National Book Foundation (NBF). Nowadays, on demand of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), NBF is publishing books. Most of titles of books have been published. “Currently, admission session is in progress, hopefully, within two weeks the schools would be supplied all books,” the secretary said.
The FDE is a supervisory body of 431 schools and colleges of Islamabad and every year it provided free textbooks to students from class 1 to 10 with funding of federal government. The FDE gets its books published from NBF- which is also a subsidiary of ministry of education.
Meanwhile, the press release said that initiative of new colourful books is part of FDE’s broader commitment to equitable, inclusive, and modern education. “The new textbooks were meticulously reviewed by a team of subject experts under the leadership of the Academics and Quality Assurance Wing of FDE. The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the Federal Secretary for Education, who has directed that these digital textbooks be pre-loaded onto computers in ICT labs and on the eagerly awaited Chromebooks being deployed in schools,” read the press release.
“For students who prefer printed versions, each textbook includes QR codes, allowing quick access to rich online learning resources,” shared the Federal Secretary for Education. “Our goal is to ensure every child has access to quality learning, regardless of the medium.”
According to education ministry, key features of the new textbooks included, alignment with the National Curriculum and Digital Integration: Each textbook is fully aligned with Pakistan’s National Curriculum and offers QR-coded access to lesson plans via a centralised Learning Management System (LMS), equipping teachers with comprehensive instructional tools.
“ A major focus of the curriculum is on nurturing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration—essential skills for students in a rapidly evolving world.
“Inclusivity and Local Relevance: The content promotes inclusion and reflects local culture and context, helping all students feel represented and connected to the material.
“Modern Pedagogical Techniques: With features such as mental math drills, cross-curricular links, and curiosity-driven exploration, these textbooks are designed to inspire intellectual curiosity and academic growth,” read the press release.
