TOBA TEK SINGH: A man set his wife ablaze over refusal to allow him to contract a second marriage in the Samanabad area of Faisalabad.
Complainant Ali Hassan of Sheikhupura alleged in the first information report (FIR) registered with Samanabad police that his sister, Lubna Shahzadi, was present at her house in Ali Town when her husband, Muhammad Qaiser, forced her to sign a paper, allowing him to contract the second marriage. She refused to sign the paper. At this, Qaiser sprinkled petrol on her clothes and gave them fire. As a result, Lubna was critically burnt.
The complainant added in the FIR that his sister was under treatment at the burn unit of the Allied Hospital when her husband threatened to kill their two sons if she informed police about the incident.
Police have arrested the suspect.
HONOUR KILLING: Jhang police registered a man for murder of his 19-year-old niece.
Complainant Noor Sahiban, the mother of the deceased, claimed in her FIR registered with Mochiwala police that she along with her daughter, Tanzila Fatima, was visiting her parents’ home at Chak 175-JB on Saturday where her brother, Shahid, without any apparent reason, opened fire on Tanzila. As a result, she was critically injured. She was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where she succumbed to her wounds. Sources suspect that it was an honour killing incident.
ACCIDENTS: Three persons died and as many were injured in two road accidents in the district on Sunday.
In the first incident, a couple was crushed to death by a speeding car near Samundri interchange on M-3 on Sunday.
Reports said Muhammad Javed and his wife Bushra Bibi, residents of Chak 440/GB Faizpur were crossing the motorway by foot illegally to reach their farmland across the road when a car ran them over. As a result, Javed died on impact while Bushra was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Samundri where she too succumbed to her injuries.
At Pirmahal on Faisalabad-Multan Road near Chak 683/24 GB, a car overturned due to speeding. As a result, the car driver, identified as Muhammad Bilal, died instantly while three car riders, identified as Usama, Abdul Majeed and Talha, were injured. The doctors at the THQ Hospital, Pirmahal, referred them to the DHQ Hospital.
ARRESTED: Ghulam Muhammad Abad police in Faisalabad arrested a faith healer for making a rape attempt on a married woman.
Police said Pir Waleed Iqbal alias Baba Saiban Wali Sarkar, residing in the Madanpura locality, overpowered a woman who came to his house for spiritual treatment and attempted to rape her. The woman raised the alarm and local people gathered there. They handed him over to the police.
SHOOTING: A security guard of a wedding hall opened fire on gypsy people who had gathered at the gate to collect currency notes thrown on the groom on Salarwala Road in Sahianwala, Chak Jhumra. As a result of the shooting, a woman, a man and two children were wounded.
Reports said the gypsies were entering the Kazim Marriage Hall when its guard, Ahmad Khan, opened fire on them. The injured were identified as Shagufta Bibi (60), Hamid Ali (35), Salman (12) and his brother Rizwan (8). They were shifted to Chak Jhumra THQ Hospital.
