PESHAWAR: The city police have asked citizens leaving their cities to celebrate Eid with their loved ones to inform the police to help prevent thefts at their residences back home.

In a statement issued here, the police have asked the people to take precautionary measures in order to prevent theft cases.

“Check CCTV cameras and the receivers in the house and make sure you inform friends while leaving,” the statement said, adding in case of any fear or concern, people should inform the nearest police station, which would plan a special patrol in the relevant area or neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have finalised a plan to deploy 1,000 wardens across the provincial capital for maintaining smooth flow of traffic on Eidul Fitr.

A statement issued by the city traffic police said four SPs and 12 DSPs would also oversee the implementation of the plan.

“Fifty-four riders and 18 fork-lifters have been deployed in different sectors of the city to keep the traffic flow and control heavy traffic in the provincial capital,” the statement said.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan said traffic police would utilise all the available resources to keep the roads clear. However, he also asked citizens to avoid illegal parking.

CTO Khan directed the traffic authorities to ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic and warned of strict departmental action in case of negligence. He also directed to take strict action against those using one-way, fancy number plates, unregistered vehicles and tinted glass in vehicles.
