PESHAWAR: A prominent lawyer Wali Khan Afridi breathed his last here on Friday after suffering cardiac arrest.

Mr Afridi, who was a senior leader of Peoples Lawyers Forum, was present in the Peshawar High Court when he suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital but couldn’t survive.

His funeral was later held on Friday night in his ancestral village in Dara Adamkhel.

Lawyers, friends and family members in large number attended his last rituals.

Mr Afridi remained general secretary of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association. Belonging to erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Mr Afridi was well versed in legal framework in vogue there including the then Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and was also a member of the FCR Reforms Committee.

Vice chairman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Ahmad Farooq Khattak, president of PHC Bar Association Fida Gul, president of Peshawar Bar Association Amjid Ali Khan and other senior lawyers have expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of Mr Afridi.

They prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and provide courage to the bereaved family as well as his friends to bear this loss.
