UNREGISTERED VEHICLES: Driving unregistered vehicles and motorcycles without number plates has become a norm in Hub. The matter is not limited to unregistered vehicles; it also involves the lack of accountability and the sense of impunity that comes with it. Without proper registration and number plates, these vehicles cannot be traced or tracked in case of involvement in a crime.

The authorities should prioritise the safety of the people, and take immediate action against unregistered vehicles.

BLOCKING ROADS: There was a time when political protests in Khuzdar used to lead to shutter-down strikes. The protesters now prefer to block the roads. This is really frustrating for the people. Roads from Mastung to Khuzdar or even Wadh are routinely blocked by the prote-sters. Patients suffer, and so do labourers trying to reach theie respective work sites to earn a living. Blocking roads is a cruelty that does not resolve any issue.

BANNED DRUGS: One of the most alarming issues facing the South district in Karachi is the rampant availability of narcotics and banned drugs, with young boys and girls often being at the other end of the supply line. The agents supplying these drugs are known, and their opera-tions are not hidden, but no action is taken by law-enforcement agencies. The lack of political will has the community exposed.

BRUTALLY BETRAYED: Mustafa Amir, the deceased teenager, was not killed by a stranger. He was betrayed, brutally tortured and murdered by his own trusted friends in Karachi. The murder is a heart-breaking reflection of how fragile human relationships have become. People are more aggressive, emotionally unstable, and disconnected today. Some turn to violence not only out of anger, but because they see no consequences. When justice is slow, criminals feel emboldened.

A long war?

A long war?

Both sides should have a common interest in averting a protracted conflict but the impasse persists.
