BAJAUR: Two security personnel were martyred and two others injured when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in a hilly area of Salarzai tehsil here on Friday evening.

Sources told Dawn that the incident occurred in Bar Malasaid locality at around 6pm just before Iftar.

The security personnel were passing from the area when the bomb, said to be an improvised explosive device, exploded near the vehicle, the sources added, saying that two soldiers were martyred on the spot and two others wounded.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

The sources said the blast badly damaged the vehicle.

Soon after the explosion, a team of security personnel along with police launched a search operation in the locality to trace those involved in the attack.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Inter-Services Public Relations, the army’s media wing, was yet to release a statement about the incident till filing of this report on Friday night.
