KARACHI: A gas leakage at the cold storage of a private firm in the Fisheries area left 15 people unconscious, police and rescue services officials said on Wednesday.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that the incident occurred at the Sindh-Balochistan Fish Storage Company.

The gas leak caused 15 people to lose consciousness. They were immediately shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi and Kutiyana Memon Hospital for treatment.

The DIG explained that ammonia gas was used for cold storage. The leakage was quickly controlled and none of the victims were in critical condition. After receiving initial medical aid, they were discharged, the officer added.
