A tale of two worlds

This is with reference to the story “A tale of two worlds” by Hooria Fatima (YW, December 21). I was deeply moved by the powerful contrast the story portrayed between two vastly different lives.

Through the beautiful depiction of Smokey’s (the cat) curiosity on Hot Dog Street, I found myself reflecting on the stark disparity between the pampered existence of a pet cat and the harsh realities faced by street cats. The description of the lives of street cats, though seemingly full of freedom, was also deeply tragic as they fight daily battles for food and shelter.

While the story focused on the lives of cats, it was actually a reflection of the harsh truth of coexistence in the human world too — some enjoy an abundance of things, while others struggle to survive. It also made me realise how often we take our privileges for granted, without fully understanding the struggles faced by those living on the margins, whether they are humans or animals.

We must learn the lessons such stories and articles convey and change our perspective on life, and live accordingly to create a harmonious world and civilised society.

Musical sketchpad

This is with reference to the website review “Musical sketchpad” by Asif Ali (YW, December 28). I visited the website and found it to be quite entertaining.

The concept of combining visual art with music through platforms like Draw Audio was fascinating.

The simplicity and ease of use, along with the ability to create soundscapes by drawing, offered a unique and engaging experience. It provided a creative outlet and a fun way to explore how art and sound can be connected, making it a great tool for both relaxation and creativity.

Facing the fear of failure

We’ve all been afraid of failing at some point — whether it’s a big test, a competition or simply trying something new.

The fear of making mistakes can stop us from taking chances, but the truth is, failure is not the end. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to learn and grow.

Every successful person has faced setbacks before reaching their goals. Instead of seeing failure as a defeat, we should view it as a lesson that brings us closer to success.

The key is to keep trying, learn from our mistakes and never let fear hold us back from reaching our full potential.
