Jr Fed Cup: Tennis trials begin

ISLAMABAD, April 16: The junior Fed Cup trials began on Sunday at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) courts with four girls turning up.

Only Pakistan No. 1 Sara Mahboob, Quratul Ain, Mehak Khokhar and Natasha Afridi appeared in the trials.

Natasha later pulled out because of illness that left only three players in the fray who could all get a ticket to Bangkok where the championship is due to take place next month.

However, an England-based Pakistani Amna Hameed has been exempted from the trials and may well join the team directly in Bangkok.

On Sunday three matches were played while officials said a fourth and the last will be contested on Monday.
