Let’s end the plastic crisis

This is regarding the article “Let’s end the plastic crisis” by Ayesha Fatima (YW, October 26). The article focused on a common issue prevalent in our country, the plastic crisis.

Plastic is deeply embedded in our daily lives, appearing in various forms, such as plastic bags, bottles and countless other everyday products, making it ubiquitous. Microplastics harm both living organisms and non-living elements, disrupting ecosystems and causing significant environmental imbalance.

Adopting the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ approach is essential in combating the plastic crisis effectively.

The power of compassion

This is regarding the story “The power of compassion” by Mahnoor Sohail (YW October 19). The story was a touching narrative that highlighted the power of compassion and the importance of caring for others, especially when they need it most. The main character underwent a positive transformation throughout the story, and learnt the value of extending a helping hand to those in need. Small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful change, both for others and for ourselves.

From ink to inbox

This is with reference to the cover article “From ink to inbox” by Shahmeer Asif (YW, October 26). It was quite a nostalgic read, as the article transported the reader back to a time when letter writing was a common practice.

With the advent of technology, everything has changed, including our modes of communication. Despite these advancements, I still believe that letter writing remains an exciting hobby and a cherished tradition. There is something uniquely personal and heartfelt about putting pen to paper, crafting thoughtful messages and waiting in anticipation for a response.

In an age where digital communication prevails, it’s important to remind young people of the charm and significance of written correspondence. By highlighting this tradition, Shahmeer Asif, in his article “From ink to inbox,” encouraged a deeper understanding of meaningful communication, which can enhance relationships and create lasting memories.

I loved reading about the days of letter writing and postage. Although these practices are rare today, the service still exists and will continue to do so.
