SAHIWAL: The Pakpattan police have resolved the case of a missing woman as her husband turned out to be the culprit.

Suspect Muhammad Ahmed allegedly threw his pregnant wife, Muqadis Bibi, into the Pakpattan Canal, where she drowned.

The couple, married for three years and parents to a young son, were expecting their second child. On Dec 8, Ahmed reportedly took Muqadis to a gynaecologist for a routine check-up. After collecting her medication from a pharmacy, he suggested a walk along the canal.

During the walk, Ahmed allegedly pushed his wife into the water. He returned home and told his in-laws that Muqadis had gone missing from the pharmacy.

Two days later, Muqadis’ brother Ghulam Mustafa filed a missing person report. Police reviewed footage from Safe City surveillance cameras which showed Ahmed and Muqadis riding a motorcycle toward Jamal Chowk, but Ahmed returned alone two hours later.

Confronted with the evidence, Ahmed confessed to the crime, claiming he killed his wife over suspicions of infidelity.

Police recovered Muqadis’ body from the Pakpattan Canal.
