LAHORE: Muzammil Murtaza and Muhammad Shoaib will clash in the final of the Sheheryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Champ­ionship after winning their semi-final matches here on Friday.

The 24-year-old Muzammil, who had earlier stunned top seed Aqeel Khan, continued his impressive run, defeating Barkatullah 7-6, 6-3.

Shoaib, meanwhile, edged out experienced Mohammad Abid 7-6, 6-3 to secure his spot in the final.

In the doubles semi-finals, Aqeel partnered with Shoaib to defeat the duo of Muzammil and Abid 6-4, 7-5.

They will face Heera Ashiq and Abdullah Adnan in the final, who outlasted the pair of Semi Zeb Khan and Shehzad Khan 6-3, 6-7, 10-6.

In the junior categories, Abubakar Talha and Hamza Roman reached the Under-18 final, while Shayan Afridi and Rashid Ali Bachani advanced to the Under-12 decider.

Other quarter-final results saw M. Ibraheem, Hussain Gill, Daniyal Abdullah and M. Arsh Imran progressing in the Under-10 category.
