PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Ihtesham Ali has ordered the provision of female doctors and medical staff for hospitals in Chitral district to improve maternal and neonatal health services.

The advisor ordered this during a meeting with a delegation from the Aga Khan Foundation on Monday.

The delegation was led by the Provincial Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi to discuss pressing health issues in the district. Additional Director General Health Services Dr Shahid Yunis CEO of the Health Foundation Dr Adnan Taj and others were also present in the meeting, a press release said.

The discussion focused on the provision of female doctors and improving maternal and child healthcare.

The health advisor directed the relevant authorities to immediately address health concerns in the area and improve the medical facilities.

Specific instructions were given to enhance facilities at the Basic Health Units (BHUs) in Shagram and Booni, which were being managed by the foundation.

To ensure the people of district receive the best possible healthcare services, the health advisor urged the officials concerned to collaborate closely with the foundation for improving health services in required areas.

Additionally, detailed discussions were held regarding a potential agreement between the foundation and the Department of Health to improve maternal and child health services in Boonitehsil.
