SUKKUR: An affluent person escaped unhurt in an attempt on his life but his bodyguard suffered fatal gunshot wounds near Memon Masjid in the Lohari Ghitti locality of the city on Monday.

Majid Shah was travelling towards Frere Road when he was attacked allegedly by his cousin, according to sources, who did not disclose the suspect’s name.

They said the assailant missed his target as a bullet, instead, hit Shah’s bodyguard, Mohammad Kamil Juno, son of Mohammad Ayub. Kamil died on the spot, they added.

The victim’s body was transported to his native town, Kot Sabzal, in Punjab after medico-legal formalities.
