ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has renewed its commitment to the cause of the peoples of Africa in their struggle for independence, equality and dignity and sent its greetings to them on the African Liberation Day… . … A statement issued by a Foreign Office spokesman … said: Today, 25th May, is being observed … as African Liberation Day. Pakistan which has always backed the peoples of Africa … renews its commitment to their cause.

The people of Pakistan attach great importance to the ties that bind them to the nations of Africa. They have followed with admiration the glorious march of the peoples of that great continent towards their high destiny, and shared their efforts to eliminate the evils of colonialism and racial discrimination. The resolute determination the African peoples have displayed in fighting political and economic domination by forces of imperialism … [has] already achieved significant results.
