LOWER DIR: The local government members and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s district secretary information Bahramand Syed on Sunday demanded of the chief minister and inspector general of police to take notice of the delay in construction of the three-storey building of Timergara police station.
Talking to reporters at Timergara Press Club, they pointed out that construction work on the building was initiated in 2018 at a cost of Rs70 million.
They said that the police station functioned in a rented building, wherein the policemen felt insecure. They said that work on the project had been halted due to unavailability of funds.
Meanwhile, contractor Nizamuddin claimed that 98 per cent work had been completed on the building. He told Dawn that the government had to pay him Rs25 million for the work done so far.
The contractor said due to delay in funds’ release, whitewash of the building was delayed. He pointed out that he had deposited Rs8 million as security amount and the remaining work could be completed if his security was released.
The LB representatives demanded of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to order release of funds as soon as possible.
ELECTIONS: The Insaf Health Forum, which is backed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, on Sunday announced to take active part in the upcoming elections of the paramedical association.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the forum held at the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara, with its president Mohammad Iqbal in the chair.
The participants said the forum had decided to take active part in the upcoming elections for the paramedical staff association. A seven-member committee was also formed to forge an alliance with other groups in Lower Dir district.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Speakers at a function held in Chakdara on Sunday asked the students and youth to learn English language for getting jobs abroad.
A private educational institute arranged the function.
The speakers, including Azhar Abbas, Osama Sheikh, Ms Pulwasha and Mazharul Islam, said English was spoken and understood almost in all countries of the world. They said that qualified youths having the ability to speak and understand English could get better jobs abroad.
