KARACHI: A citizen shot dead a suspected robber in Orangi Town on Monday, police said.
Pakistan Bazaar SHO Imam Bux Lashari said that two suspects arrived at a furniture shop at Shah Faisal Chowk and snatched cash and a cell phone from the shopkeeper.
As they were fleeing, the shopkeeper took out his licensed pistol and opened fire. Both the suspects suffered bullet wounds and they fell from their motorbike.
The SHO said that one of them died on the spot and the second one tried to flee but a mob gathered there, overpowered him and subjected him to severe beating.
He said that several policemen reached the spot and arrested the wounded suspect.
The dead and wounded were Suleman Gul, 25, and Rehman Zakirullah, 25, respectively.
The police said both of them had a past criminal record and they had been arrested and sent to prison multiple times.
Suspect killed in ‘encounter’
Another suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter in North Nazimabad on Monday, police said.
They said the encounter took place between the police and the street criminal in Block-B near Saima Bridge View in which suspect Obaid Arbab, 35, was killed.
