NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Jamaat-i-Islami’s former president North Waziristan tribal district was killed when unknown motorcyclists opened fire at him in Tapi area of Miramshah tehsil here on Saturday, the police said.

They said that Rehmanullah, also a village councillor, was on his way to his native Spalga village when unidentified persons riding on a motorcycle fired at him.

Local residents said that the JI leader received multiple bullets and died on the spot. They said that the body was shifted to Miramshah hospital for autopsy.

The residents said rising incidence of target killings had forced the traders to close their shops before the sunset.
