FOOTBALL TALENT: Football in Balochistan has a rich history. Despite facing numerous obstacles, the province has produced high-quality footballers. The rugged terrain and diverse communities across the province have led to a style of play that is unique to Balochistan. Many kick off their footballing journey barefoot on rocky grounds, which is a testimony to their love for the game. There are several football clubs that provide a platform to the local talent, and play a key role in grooming and nurturing the talent. By prioritising and investing in grassroots programmes, infrastructure improvement and youth development initiatives, we can surely harness the potential of Balochistan’s football talent to do better on the global stage.

DRASTIC CHANGE: People living in villages tend to be close to nature, leading a simple life. I was one such soul. I travelled by bus for the first time when I was in class IV. Women in those days were usually not allowed to go out except for getting treatment. Moral values were so strictly observed that even a married couple thought it unethical or immoral to sit together in the presence of their elders. With all this in mind, I find the world around me today to have undergone a drastic change, with television channels, both in terms of advertisements and dramas, destroying the moral fabric of society. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) should consider being more proactive in this regard.

ACCIDENTS IN ABSAR: Absar, a sprawling locality in Turbat, witnesses frequent accidents on the main road linking Cinema Chowk to the government research farm. The road does not have even a single speed bump across its length, and over-speeding vehicles continue to cause traffic accidents, often claiming precious lives. The local authorities should address the issue.
