HYDERABAD, March 14: In view of the hardship being faced by people, the ’ action committee of doctors has called off its strike and doctors resumed duties on Tuesday. This was announced at a meeting of the faculty members of the Liquat University of Medical Sciences on Tuesday.

The acting vice-chancellor of the university, Prof (Dr) Allah Bachayo Memon, presided over the meeting.

The faculty members and doctors of the university hospital attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the situation arising out of the death of Ms Shahzadi and deplored the attitude of the law-enforcement agencies against doctors.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, the meeting reiterated that the incident was the result of an inadvertent error and said that such incidents do occur even in developed countries which have modern equipments and gadgets.

It urged the authorities, the media and relatives of the deceased to adopt a more prudent course in the matter, else it would become difficult for medical professionals to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

It expressed confidence in Sindh health secretary Naushad Ali Shaikh, who being an eminent member of medical profession, fully understands inadvertent nature of the error and hoped that he would not allow any unjust action against the doctors.

The meeting appealed to the authorities to withdraw the FIR and recall the suspension orders of the doctors.
