LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy Commissioner Rahmat Ali Wazir has asked the price magistrates to implement the new official rates of roti and initiate stern legal action against violators.
An official said that the directives were issued after complaints were lodged that naanbais did not follow the official price list. He said that the district administration notified the rate of roti two weeks ago after reduction in prices of flour.
He said that the price of roti was fixed on the recommendation of the district price review committee after consultation with Anjuman-i-Tajiraan and local hoteliers. “The price of a roti weighing 100 grams has been fixed at Rs15 while a roti weighing 200 grams will be sold at Rs30,” he added.
The official said that naanbais were also directed to display rates at a prominent place in their shops for the convenience of people besides ensuring availability of a digital scale at their shops to enable customers to check the weight of roti.
He said that assistant commissioners, additional assistant commissioners and food department officials were directed to pay regular visits to tandoors and hotels to check implementation of the official price list.
