BAHAWALNAGAR: The police arrested a man on Tuesday for raping his 11-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Riaz Colony, Haroonabad.

Police claimed that although the family attempted to conceal the matter, a tip-off led to an investigation that confirmed the accusation. The girl is receiving treatment at the Haroonabad Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. A doctor at the hospital corroborated the charges.

A case was registered against the suspect. Sources confirmed a confession from the man.

EES: The district and sessions judge says the district is implementing a new e-evidence system (EES) that will link all police stations with courts, aiming to significantly improve case processing times.

A press release from the DPO office on Tuesday stated that the EES, facilitating online attendance and witness testimonies, would soon be operational in the courts. The system allows investigating officers to record testimonies via video link from their police stations.

Under this system, all police stations in the district are connected to the courts, with each station having a dedicated EES room equipped with IT equipment.

The press release said the system would reduce fuel costs, save time, and minimise travel burdens for police personnel.

The jusge said the system would expedite both case processing and decision-making. The system’s implementation will involve appointing DSPs at the district level and focal persons in each tehsil and respective police station.
