DERA GHAZI KHAN: In the wake of some TTP attacks on police posts in recent past, Regional Police Officer of Dera Ghazi Khan Captain retired Sajjad Hasan Khan undertook emergency visits to inter-provincial check posts, border crossings and sensitive areas along the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border to assess security measures.

According to District Police Officer Ahmed Mohyiddin, TTP insurgents had attacked Jhangi police post at the provincial boundary on December last in which head constable Mazhar Iqbal embraced martyrdom while another constable had sustained bullet injuries.

He said the second attack on the same post was thwarted successfully by police on Jan 23 this year. He said the visit was aimed at reviewing the deployment of personnel and availability of arms, ammunition and surveillance facilities, including thermal dome cameras.

At the Jhangi post, the RPO ordered immediate construction of a boundary wall to strengthen security and maintenance of vigilance to handle any potential emergency. The DPO and officers from various law enforcement agencies accompanied the RPO during the visit.

He instructed officers to conduct mock exercises and ensure the use of protective gear such as bulletproof jackets and helmets. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of monitoring all entrances and exits through CCTV surveillance.

The regional police officer commended dedication of the officers stationed at the Jhangi and addressed their concerns, pledging prompt resolution.
