THIS is with reference to the editorial ‘Killing fields’ (April 9) which high-lighted Karachi’s problems and made some suggestions to the authorities. Compared to other major cities, we all have witnessed that committing all sorts of crimes in Karachi has been quite an easy and convenient task for the criminals despite the presence of paramilitary force in the city for over two decades.

While denouncing political parties that demand handing over policing and law and order duties completely to the paramilitary force, the ruling party in Sindh is still non-committal in its stance even though the entire province needs such radical steps.

Instead of talking about the need to upgrade the police force through training on modern lines, the foremost task should be to somehow identify the black sheep within the system and then to remove them without any delay.
