CARELESS BIKERS

Published April 23, 2024

CARELESS BIKERS: A few days ago, I travelled on the G.T. Road from Islamabad to Gujrat and was shocked to see quite a few youngsters one-wheeling on motorbikes while carrying pillion passengers. These careless bikers not only endanger their lives, but also make the driving of other motorists around them hazardous. They usually operate in a group of four to five motorbikes, and indulge in one-wheeling in a zig-zag fashion. I seriously hope that all necessary actions will be taken by the motorway police for the safety of motorists on the road.

STRAY DOGS: The population of stray dogs has increased manifold across Karachi regardless of the socioeconomic status of the locality. One can see these animals roaming the streets in large numbers, forcing the people to live with the constant fear of getting bitten. There is a specific department within Karachi Metropolitan Corpo-ration (KMC) to handle these stray dogs, but it apparently does nothing.

NEGLECTED VILLAGE: Wahid Baksh Khoso village in Johi tehsil of Dadu is known for its rice crop. However, like most villages across Sindh, Wahid Baksh Khoso village has remained deprived of basic facilities, like clean drinking water, proper roads, reliable electricity, elementary school and healthcare. The relevant authorities should work on improving the quality of life in villages across the province.

SCHOOLS NEEDED: In terms of quality education system, Pakistan is ranked 152nd among 190 countries, reflecting relatively low levels of educational attainment. There is a dire need to build new schools and equip the existing ones with basic facilities. In Umar Bhayo-Garello village, located in Larkana district, the need for such a step is rather acute for reforming education.
