LONDON: Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, when asked by Pressmen on his arrival here in what mood Pakistan was approaching the Commonwealth Premiers’ Conference, smilingly replied: “You can see from my face in what mood Pakistan is approaching the Conference.” The Prime Minister and his wife, Begum Liaquat Ali Khan, received an enthusiastic welcome from Pakistani officials and friends and were garlanded by the members of the London Pakistani community as they stepped out from the plane.

Mr Liaquat Ali Khan travelled in the plane which also brought the New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr Peter Fraser and the Australian Prime Minister, Mr Joseph Chifley, to London. … The Begum made all three Prime Ministers laugh heartily when asked by a photographer for a “charming smile”, she replied: “Here is a million-dollar smile.” …

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Peshawar,] a decision to abolish Jagirs in the province is reported to have been taken by the NWFP Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Sir Ambrose Dundas, Governor of the NWFP. … The decision was arrived at after a three-hour discussion… .
