Doctor Who to return on May 10

Disney and BBC announced that the next season of Doctor Who will premiere on May 10. The sci-fi family show stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his companion Ruby Sunday.

“At last, it’s my great delight to unleash a whole new season of the Doctor and Ruby’s adventures together. Monsters! Chases! Villains! Mysteries! And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades. Don’t miss a second!” showrunner, executive producer and writer Russell T. Davies said in a statement.

This is the first season with Gatwa as the titular time-traveller, but the 14th season of the rebooted series and 40th season of the franchise overall.

Beyoncé releases Cowboy Carter

Cowboy Carter, the eighth studio album by Beyoncé, was released on March 29, 2024. It is the second instalment of Beyoncé’s trilogy project conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic, following Renaissance (2022). Mostly labelled a country, Western and R&B album, Cowboy Carter contains elements of pop, opera, house, Jersey club, classic rock, hip hop, blues, soul, rock, rhythm and blues, funk carioca and folk.

The project took over five years, and features country legends like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Linda Martell alongside people like Miley Cyrus and Post Malone, contemporary pop artists with country roots.

You can also hear Beyoncé’s younger daughter Rumi as the young voice asking for a lullaby on “Protector.”

Smallville animated sequel series update

Michael Rosenbaum, famed for his portrayal of Lex Luthor in Smallville, has teased the possibility of an animated sequel to the hit series.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Rosenbaum revealed that the concept for the animated continuation is ‘great’ and that the cast is eager to pitch it to Warner Bros. Despite challenges in timing, including industry strikes and executive changes, Rosenbaum remains optimistic about the project. Fans are eagerly waiting more positive news for the return of the beloved characters from Smallville in animated form.
