RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has lodged First Information Reports (FIRs) against the owners of 12 illegal housing scheme.

According to RDA spokesman, these 12 illegal housing schemes are: Gulshan-i-Kashmir (Asia Housing Scheme) Chakri Road, Rawal Enclave/Rawal Town and Housing Enclave Mouza Ping Lar Ranyal, Faisal Town Phase II Mouza Kollian Padpilu Thalian, Aman Developer Mouza Rajar Chakri Road, Manan City, Multi Garden Phase II and Khayaban Iftikhar at Mauza Chahan, Real Estate & Builder, Nabeel Block Kohsar Extension F Block, Kohsar Extension and Kohsar Extension F Block at Mauza Pind Gondal Dhok Sayedan Chongian Taxila, Top View City D-17 at Mauza Paswal Taxila Rawalpindi.

He said that the MP&TE Directorate RDA is taking legal actions against the illegal advertisements and marketing of illegal housing schemes. He said before lodging FIRs, the authority had issued notices to these four illegal housing schemes.

He said RDA has warned all and sundry that without getting the requisite NOC from RDA for launching of the housing schemes, apartment projects, commercial buildings, etc., within the controlled area of RDA, all sorts of advertisement, marketing and development of such projects through advertisement agencies, private limited companies, civil proprietorships, etc., is illegal.

Therefore, he said that RDA advised general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in illegal housing schemes.

Moreover, the sponsors are also warned to stop the marketing of their unapproved and illegal housing scheme and should contact RDA for getting NOC and approval of the scheme as per law, otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against them.

He said RDA had sent letters with request to the State Bank governor, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, FIA Cyber Crime Islamabad, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Islamabad, SNGPL Islamabad, The District Collector Rawalpindi, District Council Rawalpindi, PEMRA Islamabad and Commissioner Islamabad about illegal advertisements of private housing schemes on social media, WhatsApp, YouTube and other apps of internet facility.

He said that the RDA director general had directed the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Directorate to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized housing schemes, constructions and commercial activities, booking offices and encroachments without any fear and favour.
