DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The residents of Kulachi and Maddi areas blocked the Qureshi Mor Chowk here on Tuesday against the killing of youth the other day.

The protesters said a young driver working on a CPEC road was killed in the Maddi Bazaar.

The enraged protesters were carrying sticks in their hands. They demanded the immediate arrest of the killers.

The road closure resulted in long queues of traffic on the road.

On the instructions of the deputy commissioner, DSP Prova Anwar Khattak and SHO Gomal University police station reached the spot and held talks with the protesters.

Demand immediate arrest of killers

The protesters ended the road blockade after MNA Dawar Khan Kundi, the additional SP and assistant commissioner Dera promised early arrest of the culprits.

COP KILLED: A policeman, 28, was killed when his rivals opened fire on him in Chanda area on Tuesday.

A Yarik police station official said Kaleemullah Khan, 47, filed a report, stating Hasan Khan, Fawad Khan and Ahmad opened fire on Shaukatullah, killing him on the spot.

The slain was a driver in the Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines.

JAIL VISIT: Additional District and Sessions Judge Syed Mudassir Shah Tirimzi visited Central Jail Dera Ismail Khan and inspected facilities being provided to inmates on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by jail superintendent Samiullah Shinwari during the inspection of different sections of the facility, according to a press release.

The judge visited different barracks and wards and asked the inmates about the facilities being provided to them.

During the visit, which was paid on the directives of the Peshawar High Court Chief Justice, the AD&SJ also listened to the problems being faced by prisoners and issued the necessary directive for resolving them.

He checked the meal being provided to inmates and medicines available at the jail hospital.

ARRESTED: The police on Tuesday arrested two persons for running a network of gambling through mobile phones in the city, and recovered Rs243,000 stake money from them.

A police spokesman said a team of the city police station led by DSP city circle Mohammad Adnan raided a shop and arrested Tayyab Ali, a resident of Mohallah Bhoora Shah, and Hasan Raza.

SEIZED: The district administration and the police recovered non-custom paid items and illegal fuel worth Rs5.3 million during the ongoing crackdown on illegal fuel agencies and smuggling.

A police spokesman said Iranian petrol worth Rs1.6 million was recovered from various agencies and dealers.

Similarly, he NCP items worth Rs3.7 million were also recovered during actions.
