Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to appoint Mohammad Mustafa as the new PM later today, Al Jazeera reports.
Mustafa, 70, is the current chairman of the Palestine Investment Fund and served as deputy prime minister for economic affairs in 2013, as well as prime minister and minister of national economy from 2013 to 2015.
Outgoing PM Mohammad Shtayyeh announced the resignation of his government, which rules parts of the occupied West Bank, on February 26 due to the escalating violence in the occupied territory and Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.
