LOWER DIR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz activists on Sunday demanded of the party supremo Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to woo the disgruntled leaders back into the PML-N fold.

Talking to reporters at the press club here, district secretary information Bahramand Syed and other activists complained that internal differences in the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter had badly affected its performance in the Feb 8 elections.

They said disgruntled leaders like Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, former provincial minister Abdus Subhan Khan and others had made great sacrifices for the party’s cause at critical junctures.

They said such leaders stood with PML-N through thick and thin, but the leadership ignored them.

The PML-N activists demanded of Nawaz Sharif to form a committee to convince the annoyed leaders.

Meanwhile, PML-N activist Malik Sher Hayat demanded of the leadership to appoint Malik Farooq Iqbal as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, he said Mr Iqbal, the PML-N Lower Dir president, had made great contribution to the party’s cause.

VACANCY: The women teachers on Sunday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to immediately fill the vacant post of district education officer (female).

In a statement issued here, they complained the post of DEO had been vacant for last one year, stalling progress on cases regarding their promotions, payment of GP fund advance payment and retirement cases. The teachers said Bajaur district education officer had been assigned the additional charge of DEO Lower Dir, but she was reluctant to manage both the districts. They threatened to bring the girl students onto roads if the post was not filled permanently during the current month.

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION: Speakers at functions held at private educational institutions in Talash on Sunday asked parents to extend cooperation for their children’ bright future.

The functions were arranged to give away shields and appreciation certificates to position holding students.

The speakers appreciated the role of private sector in promotion of education.
